Being a dance or theatre school owner can be a lonely place – I know because I have been there!
You start attending local classes as a child and fall in love with it… Fast forward to now and you’re the proud owner of your very own school with a burning passion for the arts and your students, but very little knowledge or even CONFIDENCE to run your school like the business it deserves to be!
When I opened my school in August 2010, I managed everything on my own for those first few years. It was stressful and tiring, to say the least! You've been there, right?
I then invested in my own development and went on to build a team and take a step back, so for the last 8+ years I have worked hard (or smart?) to build a loyal team. I no longer teach (at all) and my school runs like clockwork without me, across 3 locations under the guidance of my studio manager!!
Thanks to my learnings and mistakes, I am now at a place where I am proud of the brand I have created and the number of people whose lives are made that little bit better by being part of that! It hasn’t always been easy, but it has been worth it.
